The two Men walked briskly through the mutilated forest. An uneasy breeze rolled through, and nothing but their footsteps and whistling of leaves was heard. The sight was made even more ominous by the setting of the sun, which cast shadows that could look like wailing souls if you were not paying close enough attention. “Shouldn’t be much longer before we arrive at my ‘home,’ but I will warn you. It’s nothing fancy, and has a certain smell to it.” Of course Kohga was referring to the unmistakable stench of the corpses that once resided there.
Within ten minutes he and Steggo had crossed the city limits, or where they used to be. Even this brought a smile to Kohga’s face, though, for this was his home now. Just like he could see diamonds in a tree, Kohga could see a brilliant village in the rubble. After several more minutes, the pair had arrived at Kaneda’s shack, which by now had received a few upgrades, and more surprisingly had been missed by the onslaught altogether. “I’ll say, I’m rather shocked that it is still standing.” When you looked at the outside of the shack, it would really just appear as that, a shack. Kohga had added on a few rooms to the outside, but nothing substantial. The biggest difference was under the earth. Directly below the house was an enormous basement, with six tunnels branching off from it, and each having its own room at the end. Most of it was used for storage, except the biggest of the six, that was where Kohga slept. “Well, this is home. Feel free to make yourself at home in any room that is available.” He would offer up to his companion. “We can deal with the stone in the morning. I don’t know about you, but I could use some food and sleep.” He said this half smiling and half stifling a yawn. Kohga wasn’t exactly sure how Steggo felt, he did just have a miracle performed on him, yet something felt, off.

Steggo didn't even set foot in that building. The scent of death inside was strong enough just from the doorway to know that he would prefer not to sleep there.
"I'm right in thinking that this area was inside the old village, yes? Then may as well get cracking on the rebuilding operation."
Rubbing his hand together for a moment, Steggo began with something simple for the time being, tearing up four slabs of rock to form a simple structure and forming a roof with a slight slant to it.
"You can let me know your thoughts on architecture later so the place has the feel you want, but this will do me for the night. My teacher always insisted on sleeping in an underground bunker he'd build himself each night but I can't be doing with that. Get a mountain dropped on your head and you lose your taste for sleeping below the earth, I guess."
He said all of this with a grin as he stepped through the stone wall, uniformity and reforming it around himself to move through it.
"Night!" he called back through the stone.
The next morning Steggo dissolved his stone hut and stepped out to look across at the devastated wasteland that had once been one of the greatest villages on the continent.
"So, where to begin..?" he wondered aloud, placing his hands on his head and refusing to pay attention to the dull burning sensation in the spiral mark around his right arm.

Kohga laughed internally at the sight of Steggo's aversion to entering Kaneda's shack. Maybe the smell was so bad that others could not enter? He had gotten used to it, and it served as a reminder of the horrors that occurred in the village just over a year ago. "The outskirts, but yes. It was within the village walls." He would say pensively. In his mind, the new village would not have slums. His eyes would provide unimaginable wealth for this village, and no one would go hungry.
He watched then as his ally created a rudimentary house made of stone, only four walls and a roof. Simple. Steggo's comment about architecture left Kohga somewhat taken aback. "Til tomorrow." He would say with a small wave. Kohga had not even considered the style in which the new buildings would be created. Maybe it was good that someone as seasoned as Steggo would be helping with that.
Hours before Steggo awoke, a lone figure sat shirtless atop the shack, covered in a light dew. Kohga woke up every morning and did what some would call image training. He directs chakra throughout his body in countless ways to hone his control, all while flowing through the different elements he can control. His view of a Kage meant that all elements should be 'second nature,' and chakra control should exceed even the most advanced medical ninja, of which he was one. He would visualize the jutsu he knew, and the signs associated with them, to hone his mind-muscle connection. The crumbling of walls in front of him alerted Kohga to the awakening of his new friend. One eye opened, as now his training would be over, and he heard Steggo wonder aloud. "Good morning, Sleeping Beauty!" Kohga slid from the roof, landing gracefully several feet from Steggo. He would wrap one hand over his other fist and channel katon chakra to the topmost layer of his skin. Steam would momentarily pour off his body and clothes as he dried, and he would clasp his hands behind his head, revealing the scars around his left shoulder that extend into his pectoral and deltoids, even down into his lats. "Now you're asking the question I have been asking for a few months now. Granted, I had created a large amount of houses and structures actually, before our little tif with Chomei. But! That is neither here nor there. The village was largely unoccupied, spare a few roving bandit clans and my attendant-in-training, Hanako. If she isn't ok, or died, that would be regrettable, but it would prove her unable to serve as an attendant."
Kohga looked over the new ruins, trees and steel interwoven like some obscure puzzle. Perhaps he should keep in line with Old Konoha? A mixture of new technology and nature. That thought brought hope to his heart, and his mind began to wander. The waste before Kohga dissolved, and was replaced by a market place tucked into a growing forest. People walking arm in arm smiling and laughing. Children chasing one another playing 'ninja.' "YOSH!" Determination made itself apparent on the Hokage's face, and he poured his chakra into the earth beneath them. He let loose an enormously powerful forward stomp, and a rolling wave of earth easily as tall as himself formed before them. The wave would push the debris and wreckages outward into large piles, clearing a massive area. "First things first, we gather up all the debris for later use."

Steggo rubbed his hands together again and wrapped chakra through his fingers. Taking a firm wide stance, he struck forwards with a firm palm. A ripple burst through the air as any scrap of dirt or dust floating around was forced onwards, driven clear aside and flattened.
"Okay, so let's talk about a start. You're Hokage so you've got some big choices to make here. Plenty of space to work with but maybe start small and expand outwards. Should we work from where the centre of the village will be? And remember that doesn't need to be where the centre of the old place was. I did always wonder why the village Hidden in the Leaves wasn't really featuring much in the way of trees. Thoughts?"

Kohga stifled a smile when Steggo spoke. He had yet to be called Hokage by anyone as of yet. "Well, considering the population is still very small, a small village would suit just fine." Kohga walked to the center of the clearing the two had just made, gesturing Steggo to follow. "I'm thinking we start anew, and have considered before what you were saying, how Konoha seemed to lack trees inside the village itself. That being said, since we are now a small village again and defenses are low, maybe starting a small village that is in a forest would be a good idea." Kohga sighed and scratched his head, "The problem is that im not good with a hammer and I cant use mokuton jutsu! Haha." Kohga's eyes then changed, his KG taking over now, and he bent over and plucked up a broken branch that had dug itself into the ground.
"Even though we are just starting, we are the richest of all villages. We have a near endless supply of a couple resources that many would love to have. " Kohga woved one handed seals and cupped his hand over the branch before it dissovled into dust. When he opened it, a lump of coal sat where the dust was. "Coal. This is much more reliable than wood stoves, or fireplaces." Again he cupped the coal, and then changed the carbon again, this time into diamonds. "I'm more than sure that we could trade diamonds for other resources, or labor, even money." Kohga smiled like a child full of hope, "Konoha will be the thriving safe haven it was before long, we have all the resources, we just need people now."
