Physical Description:
Hair: Long and black, Hanako's hair remains so mostly out of lack of anything to cut it with. Naturally wavy, it remains perfectly straight due to lack of washing.
Eyes: Blue
Physique: Slim framed and small, Hanako grew up in rather strenuous circumstances, and thus has yet to begin truly growing. She is considered quite pretty, but due to lack of food she often seems gaunt and unhealthily skinny. Nonetheless, she doesn't still resemble a child, and is clearly in her mid-teens, despite being incredibly short.
Other: N/A
Clothing:
Head: A hair tie to keep her hair in a high ponytail
Upper Body: Typically anything she can find for a shirt, including old robes, fashioned into a shirt, or a loose singlet. This varies based upon the day and temperature, although the nature of her surroundings often makes it difficult to find anything too warm.
Arms/Wrist/Hands: A pair of leather gloves she has fashioned for herself and, in many cases, a pair of knuckle dusters which enable her to deal more damage in hand to hand combat. These are fashioned from pieces of metal and wire, being makeshift weapons.
Legs: Once again, anything she can find, although she has a particular pair of black jeans she is very fond of.
Feet: Usually nothing
Other: Unable to afford anything else
Personality: Once a sweet, caring girl, Hanako has grown to match her environment. Cold, harsh, and pragmatic, she doesn't have much time for emotions, be they her own or of others. Some call he cruel, but she simply views it as necessary. Not taking pleasure in inflicting pain, she is nonetheless callous, and unafraid to hurt others, sometimes even when it could be avoided. For the most part she is cold and wry, enjoying dark humor and holding very little regard for her own well being or life. To her, life is cruel, and ergo she must be too. To an outsider, it would seem that she has forgotten how to care.

Hanako lived a comparatively normal life as a child. Born to a merchant father and socialite mother, she grew up in affluence. Nonetheless, she aspired to be a shinobi. Infatuated with her own appearance and externally focused, she took after her mother, yet resented the fact that women were, for the most part, arbitrarily restrained in most fields. Unable to follow her father into business, she knew a woman could go far as a shinobi, without fear of condescension or legal difficulties, and so she began training from a young age. Afforded relative stability, Konoha was about as 'normal' as a shinobi village could be, and so she was able to focus on training, without fear of violence or cruelty. The marked exception to this were the numerous demolitions of the Hokage monument, and the initial attack of Mirage. Fortunately, in both cases, the attacks were prevented by the good shinobi of the village, and the outside intervention of others.
She was even able to graduate the Academy as a Genin, and was assigned a team. All of this changed when Mirage attacked once again. Destruction was wrought throughout the village and, finally, an enemy came that could break the Leaf. The Hokage was dead, most of the forces were decimated, and there were almost none who survived this virtual force of nature. Hanako's life of affluence was broken, and her parents were missing, presumed dead by her. Unable to grieve for long, she found herself having to defend herself. And, after beating back a roving gang, she knew for the first time what it was to feel fear. That night, she learned what it was to be hungry. For the next two years, she lived in isolation and a state of constant strife. Fear, once so foreign to her, became a default state of being, and she rarely ate. No longer able to care about her appearance, she became cold, distant, and dressed in whatever she could find.
Pragmatism came to rule, and she became a true shinobi. Constant strife taught her skill in battle, and she grew increasingly stronger. However, she was unrefined, and reach a plateau, unable to gain any more power without the guiding hand of an experienced ninja, the shinobi arts too secretive and refined for her to teach herself. And so it has been for the past few months, with her living a life that is nasty, brutish, and short, unsure of whether she will survive to see the next day, let alone the village ever being rebuilt.
